About the role:
Bixal is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Graph Data Analyst/Modeler to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role will focus on building graph-based data models to illuminate complex system relationships and product interdependencies across VA’s expansive digital ecosystem.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in graph theory and data modeling and will play a key role in developing visual and analytical tools that enable VA stakeholders to better understand system architecture, identify root causes of issues, and make more strategic decisions. This position requires both technical expertise and a systems-thinking mindset to support long-term improvements in Veteran-facing services.
This is a full-time position contingent on contract award by our client, with a defined performance period of one year with two one-year option periods. Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $95,000-$100,000/year. In the spirit of transparency, most offers tend to land near the midpoint of the range. We make compensation decisions thoughtfully, considering your experience, the skills you bring, and our commitment to internal equity. Fairness and transparency are core to how we operate.
Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain graph data models to represent system architecture and relationships across VA systems, products, and user journeys.
- Apply graph analytics techniques such as FastRP, KNN, and Leiden Community Detection to uncover systemic bottlenecks, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
- Ingest and transform raw datasets into graph structures for analysis and visualization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex interdependencies into actionable insights via dashboards, reports, and decision-support tools.
- Develop dashboards and storytelling tools that map system behavior and dependencies for strategic decision-making.
- Support technical planning, system diagnostics, and performance analysis through graph-based data analysis.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning to align analytics with stakeholder priorities and product goals.
- Other related tasks as assigned, trained, and qualified to perform.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, plus a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Expert Proficiency with Neo4j, Cypher, and related graph database tools.
- Experience with Databricks, Azure, or similar data engineering platforms is preferred.
- Strong analytical and visualization skills, including experience developing architecture maps or system models.
- Ability to communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to maintain and obtain a Public Trust clearance
Nice to Have Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience supporting Veterans Affairs or other federal health or benefits programs.
- Familiarity with VA systems and datasets.
- Familiarity with Neo4j.
- Existing VA clearance.
